Big Dance 2012

Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre is extremely delighted to annouce that we are working with the Foundation for Community Dance on the development of a range of projects across Northern Ireland for the Big Dance 2012 national programmme, as part of Cultural Olympiad.

DQDT will be the lead partner in the Big Dance Hub for Northern Ireland supporting the delivery of  a wide range of acitivites that will be running from the 18th May to the 9th Septmeber. DQDT is very excited to be helping bring Big Dance to Northern Ireland and further information about this UK wide programme programme can be found here: bigdance2012

GAP

FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY ALERT! DQDT will be hosting one 12 month and one 6 month apprenticeship during 2012 as part of The Graduate Apprenticeship Programme (GAP). This is a scheme to enable recent dance graduates to train and work for dance-focused organisations within Northern Ireland. Dance graduates living in Northern Ireland and who have graduated since June 2009 are invited to apply. Deadline for applications is TUESDAY 15th NOVEMBER at 4pm. Not So Strictly

What a night at Not So Stricty, it was great, over £20’000 rasied for local charity Westville Family Resource Centre, thank you everyone for all your help and support. The winners Pat and Maura did a fantastic job of entertaining the crowd with their very own Rock and Roll Jive. We have night number 2 coming up on Wednesday the 23rd November and if you didn’t make it last week you really should come along then.

The Urban Nutcracker

Well it is nearly that time of year again and DQT is getting ready for our annual Christmas show and this year we are tackling the traditional Ballet for Christmas the Nutcracker. However we are taking a slightly different appraoch as the title suggests.

So if you think you know of anyone or indeed if you would like to become part of this wonderful festive experience please let us know. Booking will be available online shortly or you can always call the office and get your name down immediately for what promises to be a fun, exciting and rewarding experience.

Early Years

We are currently undertaking a number of projects in Early Years settings and look forward to developing this work further in the future. At the moment we are leading creative dance classes in Eskra Early Years group and will shortly be delivering similar workshops across 3 Fermanagh based pre-school groups.

Not So Strictly

It is that time of year again and Dylan is busy working with a new group on dancers for the Not So Strictly, we also have last years crew putting on a very special performance this year. Autumn Programme

Our Autumn programme of classes with Butterfly Ballet, Funky Feet, Creative Street and Jive are all running successfully.  Details are be up on the Calendar.

FUNK

FUNK is the new vibrant dance show from the award winning Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre which toured across Northern Ireland through out Summer 2011. 6 dancers, 1 wicked DJ and loads of FUNK! This unique performance from a cast of international dancers presents captivating movement to an enthralling soundtrack which will flow through all your senses with bounding energy, funk and quirkiness. As the sounds of James Brown to George Clinton fill the room with this wonderful Funk vibe, you will find yourself transported to one of the funkiest places in the world. Glee Dance Summer School

The Glee Summer Schools were a brilliant success with great performances by all participants on the final days. Thanks so much for all those who took part we hope you had a great time, photos will follow shortly.  Breda has a little time to recover and then we will be starting our Autumn term of community classes.

Zumba

Zumba has been hot hot hot, so hot we set the heat sensors of in our regular venue of Element too many times to mention. The classes have been going really well and we would like to thank all of those dedicated Zumba movers for coming along. We are now offering the classes at the Bawnacre in Irvinestown so please come along if you want to join the party.

Award

As our faithful followers will know Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre won Social Enterprise Start up of the Year Award at the Social Economy Awards on the 24th of February. We then went on to represent Northern Ireland at the UK finals in the O2 on the 30th of March. Although we didn’t quite manage to bring the main prize home we are still very very pleased to be top of the pile here at home. Dylan, Hannah and Breda had a great night out with the Northern Ireland crew and would like to pass on great big congratulations to Newington Credit Union who were presented with the Social Enterprise of the Year Award and John McMullan, Chief Executive of Bryson Charitable Group who won the Social Enterprise Leader of the Year Award.
